Real-Time Cave Mapping as You Swim
The Cave Mapper System is our most ambitious project: a fully integrated underwater cave mapping solution that turns your exploration dives into detailed 3D maps.
How It Works
The system combines multiple sensor inputs to build a real-time model of the cave passage:
- Depth sensor: High-precision pressure transducer for accurate depth profiling
- Distance measurement: Ultrasonic ranging for passage width and height
- Compass/IMU: 9-axis inertial measurement for heading and attitude
- Data logger: Records all sensor data for post-dive processing
A dual-core processor combines this sensor data 100 times a second to plot your position. The result is a real-time stick map of your path through the cave.
Post-Dive Processing
After your dive, connect the mapper to your computer and our software generates:
- 2D passage profiles (plan and cross-section views)
- 3D point cloud visualization
- Export to standard cave survey formats (Compass, Walls)
- GPS tie-in points for surface correlation

Current Status

Since every Cave Mapper is built from scratch to your specifications, we can incorporate your initials, team markings, or touch contact identifiers directly into the housing. Personalization is included at no extra cost as part of the custom build process.
